MELTHAM bowler Barry Nicholson just pipped his twin brother in an annual competition.
Barry, 26, rolled to runners-up position in the annual Npower Active Disability Sport England Bowls Championships in Leeds.
Barry won all three of his games while brother Steven won two and drew one. A Pudsey player came first on a points system.
The brothers, who live with parents Marie and David and attend the Bridgewood Trust in Armitage Bridge three times a week, will now go forward to the DSE national event in Solihull in 2005.
They will also take part in the 2005 Special Olympics in Glasgow next July.
There, they will compete in the indoor bowling class.
The twins have played at Huddersfield Sports Centre for many years and compete in the Huddersfield Saturday Bowling league among able-bodied and able- minded bowlers.
Kevin Rodgers, Npower's community relations manager for Yorkshire, said: "The Npower Active programme is a series of events aimed at encouraging people with disabilities - learning, physical, hearing or visual - to get involved in sporting activities and explore their talents."
