Union members are to stage a Budget Day Protest Rally in Huddersfield on Wednesday.

It will be on the theme,’ Britain Needs a Pay Rise’ and will include speakers Nick Ruff, chairman of Kirklees Unison, representing over 10,000 members working for Kirklees Council.

Also there will speakers from GMB, PCS union ,CND and the union Unite.

The rally will be at 12.30pm at Market Place in Huddersfield town centre.

Bob Stoker, secretary of Huddersfield TUC, said: “Huddersfield TUC is calling for protest action on Budget Day 2014, We want to demonstrate for a Budget that benefits the majority, not for the few. We want to send a message to Osborne we don’t want his austerity budget.

“Getting money back into workers pockets is essential to securing a strong recovery. Zero contracts, agency and short-term contracts, below inflation pay rises mean millions do not know from one week to the next how much they will earn or whether they will have a job at all.”
