AN ARCHITECT from Huddersfield has been invited to speak at a major conference in London.

Jonathan Wimpenny, who runs an architectural practice in New York, will address a conference on export opportunities for UK firms in the US construction industry.

The conference - organised by the Government's export support arm UK Trade and Investment - is next February at London Conference Centre.

Mr Wimpenny will speak on his experiences working in the US and how British companies can profit from exporting services and building products to the States.

The US has the largest construction industry in the world - with a market about six times that of the UK.

The conference will focus on opportunities for UK firms in New York, Florida and Central America as well as legal issues relating to supplying the industry.

Mr Wimpenny, the son of Harry Wimpenny, of Slaithwaite, studied at Huddersfield Polytechnic's school of architecture and at the Architectural Association in London.
