AS a manager of a building society he is trained to cope with high-pressure situations.

But even Richard Kettlewell is unsure how he will handle his latest task – plunging 300ft on a bungee rope.

The Linthwaite man, who is manager of the Yorkshire Building Society branch in Lindley, is making the giant leap to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society.

He has spent weeks collecting sponsorship money for this Sunday’s jump and his daredevil fundraising attempt has raised a few eyebrows amongst his colleagues and customers.

He said: “I’m excited about the jump because it’s something I have always wanted to do.

“But I’m sure the nerves will kick in when I get up there and I’m looking down at the 300ft drop.

“Everyone at the branch has been very supportive, although I have had a few comments that they’d rather it be me than them!”

Richard will be making the jump from a bungee crane in Knutsford, Cheshire.

He will experience free-fall for about five seconds until the bungee catches him and brings him back up again.

The 25-year-old has already raised £180 but is hoping to push that total up even further before his jump.
