A struggling village club has suffered another blow.
Burglars broke into Honley Socialist Club by smashing the front door in and threw the safe downstairs.
Thankfully, it seems they were unable to get into the safe and fled.
Police say the burglary at Honley Socialist Club occurred on Tuesday night at its premises in Jaggar Lane.
West Yorkshire Police dog unit was brought in to help and officers say anyone with any information should contact 101.
The club dates back many decades but ran into problems last year and on November 17 it was placed in administration.
Hard-working officials and members rallied round and the club reopened in December.
And last month the Examiner reported that members are hoping a 550-square metre plot behind the club could be sold to a developer.
If the plans for five houses are approved by Kirklees Council then the funds will bring in a much-needed cash boost.
