A MAN accused of attempted burglary appeared publicity-shy when he was brought before court.

John Swift, 19, is alleged to have jointly entered a property at Blackhouse Road, Fartown, with intent to steal.

He is also accused of possession of a lock knife, an offensive weapon.

He denied the attempted burglary charge at an earlier hearing and has made no indication of plea to the possession charge.

However, the teenager did not take too kindly to the idea of his case being covered in the Examiner.

He protested to magistrates that he did not want the press in court.

However his solicitor reminded him that his case was held in a public court and therefore could be reported.

Swift, of no fixed address, was remanded in custody as a place at a bail hostel was unavailable to him.

He will next appear at Bradford Crown Court via a prison video link on February 2.
