A shotgun burglary sparked a massive helicopter man hunt.

Armed police swooped on Golcar at around 4pm yesterday (Saturday), after a group of men tried to escape having stolen three shotguns from a house in Cumberworth.

They blocked Scar Lane after the police helicopter located their abandoned getaway vehicle, a black Maserati that had also been stolen from the address.

A big air and land search was launched to try find the occupants and three men were found and arrested.

Fortunately, all three shot guns were also found and recovered by the police.

But a hunt is still underway for more suspects believed to have been involved in the crime.

Huddersfield Det Insp Seth Robinson appealed for witnesses who saw the events unfold or those who have any information.

“The three arrested men are currently being held in custody,” he said.

“But we think that more people were involved.

“The car belonged to the occupant of the house, who fortunately was not injured.

“We would also like to speak to witnesses who saw the vehicle being driven through the area – it is quite an unusual type to be seen.”
