A collection of 277 antique medals have been stolen from a home in Hepworth while the owners were away on holiday.

Thieves broke in and took the collection, which was housed in presentation cases.

Det Insp Vanessa Rolfe, of Kirklees CID said: “The burglary occurred between 10am on February 21 and 10.53pm on February 29.

“A rear door to an extension was smashed but the theft was not discovered immediately as the couple were away.

“Their son has told us what happened.

“The medals are worth between £10 and £25 apiece.”
