A MAN living in a tent in his parents' garden has committed 35 burglaries.

Christopher Ford, 26, admitted burgling a working men's club and a restaurant at Huddersfield Magistrates' Court yesterday.

And he also asked for 33 similar offences to be considered.

Ford gave his address as The Royds in Clayton West, which is where his parents live. But his solicitor, Andrew Sugden, said they had washed their hands of him and he was only allowed to stay in a tent in the garden.

Ford pleaded guilty to burgling Scissett WMC on May 26 and stealing £20 after forcing open a fruit machine.

He was arrested by police on Thursday, June 15.

He admitted burgling Solo's Tandoori Restaurant on Commercial Road, Skelmanthorpe, earlier in the day and stealing £165.

Mr Sugden said: "There are a number of issues that need to be looked at.

"In his past my client has had an addiction to one-armed bandit machines."

Ford was remanded in custody for the Probation Service to prepare a pre-sentence report on him.

Magistrates told him they could jail him or send him to crown court for sentence.

Ford will next appear before Huddersfield magistrates on Friday, June 30.
