POLICE have arrested a man they have been trying to catch since February.

The 31-year-old was detained on Leeds Road in Deighton at 4pm yesterday after a short police pursuit.

The man – who has links to the Salendine Nook area of Huddersfield – was sought by several force areas for suspected offences including burglary and dangerous driving.

Det Sgt Jim Carter from Huddersfield CID intelligence unit said: “The suspect was wanted by the police in Cumbria on suspicion of involvement in burglaries in the Lake District and in Lincolnshire for offences on the east coast as well as Lancashire and West Yorkshire including Huddersfield and Dewsbury.

“Those who commit burglary and drive dangerously while committing crime can expect no respite from the police in their efforts to arrest and prosecute them.”
