A BUS driver was beaten up in a vicious gang attack.

Now police have appealed for anyone with information about the assault to come forward.

Trouble started when the gang got on the Stagecoach bus on Wakefield Road in Aspley at 10.40pm on Saturday. One had an invalid ticket and the 48-year-old driver asked him to get off.

He refused and the gang attacked the driver before fleeing towards the town centre.

The victim suffered bruising and swelling to his face, neck, back and knee.

Det Con Russ Conlon, of Kirklees CID intelligence unit, said: “This was a brutal assault on a man just doing his job.’’

Two attackers are mixed race teenagers aged around 15 and one has large Afro hair. The other has short hair. They were with two or three other youths.
