A BUS service is to link Holmfirth with the Penistone railway line every Sunday and bank holiday.

The service operated by the Penistone Line Partnership will run every two hours and connects Holmfirth with Shepley train station.

The bus then carries on to Cannon Hall Country Park, Kirklees Light Railway and Pennine Garden Centre.

Neil Bentley partnership chairman said: "We are delighted that this service will continue thanks to funding from Kirkburton Parish Council and an influx of volunteers to drive the bus."

There was further good news when it was revealed that a low floor minibus will be hired from Barnsley Dial a Ride.

Neil added: "This bus is a big improvement over the high step minibuses. Getting on and off is much easier."

Passengers can use all normal Metro prepaid tickets and concessions on the bus. The buses start from Holmfirth at 9.17am and the last one is 5.17pm.
