A PAY row involving hundreds of bus drivers in Huddersfield has been settled.

The drivers, members of the Transport & General Workers' Union, have voted to accept an offer worth about 3% from bus company First.

The deal involves reducing the time it takes for drivers to achieve higher pay grades.

The pay agreement gives drivers pay grades of £6.15 an hour, £7.14 an hour and £8.45 an hour depending on length of service.

The deal affects more than 300 drivers. Out of 243 voting in a secret ballot, 195 voted in favour of the offer with 48 against.

TGWU branch secretary Ken Farrington said: "We are pleased that agreement has been reached and we hope the pay rise will help to attract and retain drivers."
