BUS passengers are facing a long wait on the Keldregate estate, Deighton, as Arriva announced there was no firm date to re-start services.

The bus company stopped all services in mid-November following the robbery of three bus drivers.

Arriva's commercial director in Yorkshire, Phil Booker, said: "While we accept this will cause inconvenience to some customers, we would ask them to recognise that we cannot operate the services where we believe the safety of employees could be compromised."

A spokesman for the company confirmed that the situation was still the same.

Yorkshire Traction, which pulled its buses out of Lepton after dark following vandal attacks on vehicles said the curfew was still in place there.

A spokesman added: "This matter is not forgotten.

"We are hoping to resume the normal routes and times in a managed fashion at a time suitable to the external authorities."

Parts of Meltham are still not being served by First Huddersfield buses after dark following similar attacks.
