STAFF at Sharland’s of Paddock scooped eight awards at the BPEX butcher roadshow and product evaluation event.

Hundreds of products were entered into the contest, which took place at the Reebok Stadium in Bolton, but the family-run firm won top prize in five categories, as well as scooping three awards for their Yorkshire pork sausage and chive and stilton sausage, black pudding, pork pie and dry cured gammon.

The Paddock firm, which has been open for 42 years, is now hoping for success in other competitions this year.

These include the National Sausage Competition in which the butchers have already won prizes.

Ian Sharland said: “It was the first time we entered this competition so we were very pleased. It’s good that we can get some recognition nationally”.
