CAN you feed hundreds of hungry walkers?
That was the challenge thrown out today by organisers of a massive charity event in Huddersfield.
The Examiner Charity Challenge at Meltham on May 18 has run into a butty crisis.
Lions official Bob Armitage, one of the organisers, said: “We have been let down by the caterers and we now need someone with a catering caravan to help us out.
“We want someone with a caravan to take up a spot halfway along the long walk route, in the Linthwaite area, and be able to feed and water up to 1,000 walkers.
“Depending on the weather, there could be a great demand for water and cold drinks, or tea and coffee.
“And we know from experience that we may get through about 700 sandwiches.
“It is a great opportunity for someone to help.”
The Charity Challenge will see hundreds of people taking part in sponsored walks, cycle rides and horse rides to raise tens of thousands of pounds for local charities.
Caterers who can help can contact Bob Armitage on 07802 900653.
