AIR cadets have headed overseas for a series of challenging activities.

Cadet Regan Walker, 16, from Cowlersley, of Huddersfield's 59 Squadron has joined cadets from the Halifax 250 Squadron on a team- building exercise in the Pyrenees.

He has been taking part in rock-climbing, white water rafting and hill walking.

The cadets are accompanied by commanding officers Flt-Lt Emma Leech, of 59 Squadron, and Flt-Lt Chris Conley, of 250 Squadron.

Flt Lt Leech said: "Overseas expeditions offer cadets and great opportunity for challenge in an unfamiliar environment.

"They will learn to work better as a team. We hope they have had fun out there, too."

And on Friday, Cpl Will Fellows, 17, of Almondbury, will join Flt-Lt Andy Brown, 19, from Marsden, on a trip to the Algau Alps in Bavaria, southern Germany.

They are undertaking the survival expedition for their Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award, through the Air Training Corps and Army Cadet Force.
