A COLLEGE is about to send out its first batch of trained dry stone wallers.

The first group of students on Halifax-based Calderdale College’s newest course are about to qualify.

The Dry Stone Walling course is designed to preserve and develop traditional skills in one of the fastest-growing parts of the craft industry.

In addition to learning to build dry stone walls they have also learned how to build wall ends and how to enhance the environment.

There is also the opportunity to progress on to a higher level course to further develop their skills.

Calderdale College is one of a small group of colleges offering a nationally-recognised qualification.

Places are still available on part-time 10-week courses. Ring the college on 01422 399399.
