LABOUR councillors have forced Calderdale Council to look again at the future of the Ridings School site.

They have ‘called in’ a Cabinet decision about future use of the site and there will now be a special meeting of the Regeneration and Development Scrutiny Panel on Thursday, September 10.

Councillors are concerned that the proposals for the site have not been fully costed, as agreed, and that vital decisions have been delegated to a sub committee.

Clr Danielle Coombs said: “It is shame that we have had to do this but the Cabinet has left us with no choice.

“Where is the public consultation the council called for? Where is the working group with the local links that would help to build a future for this site?”
