A CYCLIST is in a serious condition in hospital in Huddersfield after coming off his bike.

Calderdale police say the 70-year-old man cyclist came off his bike on the A58 Godley Lane near Shibden Park just after midnight yesterday.

He was travelling with a group of other cyclists along and was at Stump Cross, around 100 metres from the Undercliffe Service Station, when he lost control of his bicycle, falling and sustaining serious head injuries.

He was taken to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary where he remains in a serious condition.

Police want to speak to witnesses or anyone who was near the scene who might be able to help them piece together what happened.
