PERMISSION for a house on greenbelt land has been granted.

Calderdale councillors decided the tarmacked unused space opposite the former Grove Inn in Luddendenfoot could be built on.

They said the land added no useful amenity to the greenbelt.

They were told that cars parked on the waste land at Burnley Road but that it had been used as a dumping ground for flytippers.

Clr David Hardy, Elland ward and planning committee member, said: "This is down for refusal but we aren’t helping regeneration going with the officers’ recommendation.

"We have already given permission for the pub opposite to be turned into housing, I think this will complete the regeneration of that area instead of leaving it empty."
