HUNDREDS of new homes will have to be built every year, according to a report.
Calderdale Council’s Cabinet will discuss the Calderdale Local Plan at a meeting on Monday.
The report suggests that Calderdale needs 600 new homes a year between now and 2029.
If Cabinet approves the document the council will launch a formal consultation on the proposals in October.
Cabinet member for economy and environment Clr Barry Collins said: “Despite the real economic issues currently facing the whole country, the local economy is still expected to grow over the next 20 years.
“To ensure that we have decent places for people to live and enjoy a good quality of life, we need to be planning now.”
Following the consultation, the finalised Housing Strategy is due to be published in early 2013.
