PARKING charges could be cut at one of Calderdale’s top visitor attractions.

The council’s Cabinet will next week reconsider charges for Shibden Park after visitor numbers dropped. Since the introduction of a temporary car parking charge at Shibden last April, 37,554 vehicles paid to park, raising around £30,000 for the council. But an estimated 58,000 vehicles visited the attraction in the 12-month period before the introduction of charges, meaning the park has seen visitor numbers drop by around 30%. One proposal is to cut the fee from £1 a day or 50p an hour to 30p. It will be discussed at next Monday’s Cabinet meeting.
