MARKET traders in Elland and Brighouse are vowing to clampdown on fake goods.
As part of the Real Deal scheme introduced by Calderdale Council, the markets will aim to promote fake-free items.
Following a zero tolerance approach to counterfeit goods over the last 12 months, the decision was made to join the national campaign to make Calderdale markets safe, fake-free environments to shop and trade in.
Market manager John Walker said: “The Real Deal is a campaign backed by national organisations, market operators and trading standards.
“This official stamp will give confidence to traders and shoppers that Calderdale is committed to tackling criminal activity.”
Calderdale Council has worked with the police and trading standards to stop the sale of fake and pirated goods and ban those involved from trading at markets and car boot sales.
