A NEW calendar shows how an area has changed over the years.

Archive photos are contrasted with scenes from the present day in the £5 publication from Bolster Moor Community Association.

The association produced its first calendar for 2002 and it has grown in popularity every year since then.

Spokesman Graham Butler said: "The old photographs show cloth caps, quiet streets, the odd horse and cart - none of the modern technology we take for granted today.

"The recent photographs show how the vegetation has increased since the 50s, the growth in the number of cars on the road and the changing face of our streets."

The calendar will be launched at a Christmas Market at Clough Head School at 6.30pm on Wednesday.

All profits from the calendar will be used to support local community projects. The calendar will also be available from outlets including the Golcar Lily pub on Slades Road.
