KIRKLEES Lib Dem leader Kath Pinnock is calling on the Council to release £80,000 to tackle nuisance pubs, off-licences and takeaways.
Clr Pinnock hopes the Council will allocate cash from its 2008 budget to boost Kirklees’ Licensing Enforcement Office.
The Office regulates licensed premises and combats businesses who perform illegal activities and fuel anti-social behaviour.
Clr Pinnock said: “The extra resources will ensure the Office is able to respond to customer complaints and compliments about businesses.
“The vast majority of businesses in our area operate legally, safely and responsibly, but we do need to investigate cases where owners are not doing things properly.
“Tackling any illegal activity is important and I hope all councillors will support this call for funds.”
