BLOOD donors past and present are being asked to help save lives.

Laura Summers, a spokeswoman for the National Blood Service said: "The demand for blood never stops.

We are asking donors to keep up their regular appointments and for new or lapsed donors to get 2004 off to a good start by heading down to their nearest blood donor session."

Collection sessions have been arranged in Kirklees as follows:

January 28, February 3 and February 23 at Dewsbury Town Hall, 2pm-4pm and 5pm- 7pm.

January 28, February 2, February 26 at the Methodist Mission, 15 Lord Street, Huddersfield, 2pm-4pm and 5pm-7pm.

February 4, February 25 at Cleckheaton Town Hall 2.30pm-4pm and 5pm-7.30pm.

February 11, St John's Church, off Gooder Lane, Rastrick, 2pm- 4pm and 5pm-7.30pm.

February 12, St Andrew's Methodist Church, Old Bank Road, Mirfield 2pm-4pm and 5pm-7.30pm.

February 13, The Old People's Centre, Upper Commercial Street, Batley 2pm-4pm and 5pm-7.30pm.

February 19, February 20, Parish Church, Greensend Road, Meltham 2pm-4pm and 5pm-7.30pm.

February 26, The Salvation Army, Barracks Street, Heckmondwike 2pm-4pm and 5pm-7.30pm.
