KIRKLEES Council is inviting people to put themselves forward to be considered to be independent external members of its standards committee.
They will be responsible for monitoring the way councillors conduct themselves.
Three people are needed, with one of them to be earmarked as committee chairman.
Council chief executive Rob Vincent said: "External members are vital to the work of the committee and to the perception the public has of its integrity and ability to promote high standards of conduct.
"It is important that they are seen to be genuinely independent of the council and of party politics."
The closing date for applications is Friday March 9.
