WEST Yorkshire youngsters aged 11 to 15 are being urged to get bus passes before the new school year.

The Metro Young Person's PhotoCard means they will avoid having to pay full fare.

All young people in the age group will soon need the card to qualify for half-fare travel.

A Metro spokesman said: "For months we have been reminding 11 to 15-year-olds they need these cards.

"Many have already got them, but there are still some who are leaving it to the last minute.

"The bus companies are due to start asking to see the PhotoCards soon and we don't want anyone to get caught out."

To get their PhotoCard, young people need to apply in person at a Metro travel centre, bus station or post office.

They will have to complete an application form and show some proof of identity, such as a birth certificate. There is a £2 administration fee.

PhotoCards last until September 15 following the holder's 16th birthday.

Once they get their card, young people can take advantage of Metro Movers Club and get a free pack of vouchers, full of deals offering savings at visitor attractions.
