FOOD and drink producers in the town are being asked to get involved in an event to celebrate and promote local produce.

The Mayor of Kirklees, Clr Julie Stewart-Turner, is aiming to encourage more people to buy locally-sourced food and drink.

A Local Food Buying and Supplying event will take place in November and the council wants to hear from local suppliers interested in getting involved.

The event is open to all local producers interested in promoting their produce more widely and getting local businesses such as shops, restaurants, hotels and caterers to either stock their product or use it in their business.

Shaws of Huddersfield, Hostingley Farm and Bolling Coffee are already involved.

The event will take place on Monday, November 2, from 2pm to 5pm at the Galpharm Stadium.

Clr Julie Stewart-Turner, Mayor of Kirklees said: “In order for this event to be a success we need as many different and diverse producers to come and exhibit.”
