A MAN has been left with serious head injuries and two others were stabbed in a fracas in Ravensthorpe.

The fight took place in the car park of the Royal Hotel pub on Huddersfield Road at around 5.30pm yesterday.

The man's head injuries were caused by a collision with a car.

He was said to be in a critical condition today at Leeds General Infirmary.

Five men were arrested and were still being questioned today. Officers believe others were involved.

Part of the nearby North Road was sealed off while police worked at the scene.

A spokeswoman said: "We believe a number of people at the pub witnessed what happened and have not yet come forward.

"We believe a number of other people were involved and a number of vehicles may have left the scene, including a Honda Civic."

She added: "We would like to hear from anyone in the pub who saw what happened or the car driving away."

A Honda Civic car - registration number J661 RFT - is thought to be involved in the incident.

The spokeswoman added: "This car was abandoned a short time later on Crow Nest View at Dewsbury Moor at the centre of a housing estate and it is likely people may have seen a man either leaving the car or leaving the scene."

The car will be forensically examined.

Witnesses should contact police on 0845 6060606.
