A WOMAN accused of causing death by dangerous driving was in tears as she told a jury she could not explain why her car crashed.

Janine Scarfe denied she was driving her Vauxhall Corsa at about 100mph before it went out of control on Highmoor Lane, Clifton, Brighouse.

The crash killed a woman passenger in another car.

Asked by her barrister, John Broadley, to explain what caused the crash, Scarfe told Bradford Crown Court: "I just don't know what happened. I really wish I knew. I just don't know."

Scarfe, 25, of Langdale Avenue, Wyke, Bradford, has pleaded not guilty to causing the death by dangerous driving of 68-year- old Dawn Routledge, of Ripponden.

Sheldon Brooks, 25, of Windermere Road, Carnforth, Lancashire, has also pleaded not guilty to the same charge.

The case goes on.
