A HUDDERSFIELD man has been banned from running a car repair business from his home.

Nazir Ahmed, 30, has been issued with a legal injunction to halt the business at his Almondbury council house.

He was given the 12 month injunction at a hearing at Huddersfield County Court.

The injunction bans him from continuing the business and also stops him from threatening local residents and housing staff.

If Mr Ahmed breaches it in any way, the police have the power to arrest him and take him to court for contempt.

Kirklees Neighbourhood Housing, which manages council homes in Kirklees on behalf of the council, took action against Mr Ahmed after residents complained about the number of cars and people who regularly blocked the quiet cul-de-sac, making a great deal of noise.

Mr Ahmed continued his business despite warnings and threatened staff who talked to him about it.

KNH’s director of neighbourhoods, Paul Buckley, said: “When people take on a council property they agree to certain conditions, one of which is to make sure they or their visitors’ behaviour doesn’t upset or offend their neighbours.

“All our tenants have the right to quiet enjoyment of their homes. When other people’s actions infringe on this right we won’t hesitate to take appropriate action.”
