A caravan overturned on the M62 causing hours of delays for motorists.

The accident happened on the eastbound carriageway between Ainley Top and Brighouse, at around 11.50am today.

The two occupants of a Land Rover, towing the caravan, escaped from their 4x4 unharmed after their vehicles jackknifed.

Lanes one and two of the motorway were closed while the vehicles were recovered.

The accident, attended by police and Highways Agency crews, caused tailbacks to Rishworth Moor well into the afternoon.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “There were no injuries.

“Both people had managed to get out of their vehicle themselves.

“Lane one was closed so the vehicles could be recovered.”
