A MELTHAM-based charity is selling Christmas cards to raise money for cruelly treated greyhounds and other breeds of dogs in Spain.

Greyhound 2000, a greyhound Rescue Support Group, is relieving the plight of foreign four-legged friends by working alongside the Spanish charities.

Carol Jones, responsible for running Greyhound 2000, is also a representative of Greyhound compassion, the only British group supporting Scooby.

Scooby, a charity based in Medina Del Campo, Spain, was established to help prevent the cruelty and harm exacted upon greyhounds and other breeds of dog.

She said: "Scooby is run on limited funds and requires the support and compassion of volunteers to keep its charity running.

"Greyhound 2000 is providing an opportunity for people to help support the animals in Spain by donating funds received in the shop between now and December 23".

The Meltham charity shop is behind the Waggon and Horses pub.
