CARERS will be honoured in a series of events across Kirklees next month.

Kirklees Council-run Carers’ Week, which starts on June 8, will give information on services available to carers.

Colne Valley Leisure Centre will be giving out vouchers for free taster sessions – including swimming – at the centre on June 8.

Representatives from the Pension Service, Kirklees Older People’s Network and Age Concern will be among those on hand.

Oakwell Hall at Nutter Lane in Birstall will host a carers’ fair with similar representatives on June 11, from 10am to 3pm.

A carers’ party will take place for members of Kirklees Council Carers Gateway on June 17.

The Watershed, Slaithwaite, will hold a healthy lifestyle session on June 8 from 10am to 2pm.

Meanwhile, coffee mornings for unpaid carers will be held at The George Hotel on June 2, from 10.30am to noon, and at Gateway 30 at Market Street in Huddersfield town centre on June 16 from 1.30 to 3pm.

Other events will include a carers’ information session at The Grange Group Practice, Fartown, on June 12 from 9am to noon.
