CHILDREN in Skelmanthorpe enjoyed a taste of the Caribbean at a healthy breakfast event.

About 40 children at Hawthorn’s Nursery took part in a Caribbean day as part of the National Day Nursery Association’s Big Breakfast scheme.

The scheme invites nurseries to show children the importance of having a healthy breakfast, along with exploring the food and traditions of another culture.

Hawthorn’s managers, Rebecca Clee and Zoe Barrow, chose the Caribbean for their children, who enjoyed tropical fruit, fruit smoothies and beach-themed party games. Staff wore Caribbean dress and even created a beach.
