CARING workers made over £4,200 for good causes in 2005.

Staff at Calderdale and Kirklees Careers raised the cash in a series of activities over the 12 months.

Their efforts included running in the London Marathon for the Camphill Trust, which runs communities for vulnerable people.

They also embarked on hill-walking in Scotland for WaterAid.

And brave souls took part in abseiling at Huddersfield University in aid of the Anthony Nolan Trust, which runs a bone marrow register.

Calderdale and Kirklees Careers runs job advice centres in Huddersfield and Halifax for young people.

The not-for-profit company match funds staff charity efforts up to £200 for each event.

This added almost £1,000 to the sum raised by workers.

Macmillan Cancer Relief and Kirkwood Hospice in Huddersfield were among other causes supported.
