ORGANISERS of a carnival are appealing for help in raising cash for this year’s event.

Last year’s Berry Brow Carnival was such a success that local people urged the committee to hold another.

This year’s carnival is set to take place on August 16 at Berry Brow Recreation Field off Ladyhouse Lane.

It will feature a tug of war, welly-whanging, egg throwing and a variety of stalls.

Raffles, a ‘Winter Olympics’ darts, dominoes and pool contest and a balloon race have all been held at The Railway pub at Berry Brow to raise cash.

Quizzes have been held at Berry Brow Liberal Club and the Golden Fleece pub.

But more money is needed and organisers are inviting businesses to buy advertising space in the carnival programme.

They are also appealing for sponsors for individual events, such as the tug of war.

Committee member Carol Waters said: “So many people said they enjoyed the carnival and would like to see it repeated.

“But we still have some way to go before we meet the cost of running the carnival.”

Anyone who can help should contact Carol on jcmwatermain@ntlworld.com before Saturday, May 31.
