A HUDDERSFIELD businesswoman has raised over £6,000 for cancer sufferers.
Caroline Whittle, buying director for Peters department store, raised the money for Cancer Research UK by running the Flora London Marathon in April.
She was originally aiming to collect £2,000 - but smashed that total and ended up with £6,241.
Mrs Whittle, 39, whose husband David is managing director of Peters, said: "I am delighted. I want to thank everybody. Customers have been fantastic.
"We ran a contest for them to guess my time at £1 a go. But some people were giving £10 or £20 at a time," she added.
Mrs Whittle said she was supporting Cancer Research UK because the disease touched everyone's lives.
She added: "As a business we take a lot out of the town and it is nice to be putting something back."
It was Mrs Whittle's first marathon and she completed it in 4hr 26min. Training was not a problem, as she swims every morning and runs regularly.
She was accompanied on the 26-mile event by friend Melanie Crossland, who completed the race in 5hr 30min.
