THIEVES have taken advantage of the cold snap – to steal cars.
Police in Huddersfield have revealed they have had “several” reports of thefts or attempted thefts of cars being left unattended with the engines running.
Owners have switched on the ignition to try and thaw out frozen windscreens and windows.
A Huddersfield Police spokesman said: “Over the past few days Huddersfield South has seen a number of cases of vehicles being stolen by opportunist thieves on a cold morning.
“Residents have have left the engine running but also left the car unattended.
“Please be crime conscious when defrosting your cars as you don't know who might be watching you”.
