A MAN accused of stealing horse blankets from several locations in West Yorkshire has had the case against him dropped.

Alan Barnes, of Limetree Grove, Birkenshaw, appeared before Kirklees magistrates yesterday.

He faced six charges of theft dated between October 2010 and November last year.

The 43-year-old was alleged to have stolen horse rugs and blankets belonging to women at different addresses in Cleckheaton, Bradford and Brighouse.

Magistrates were told that the case had been adjourned previously so that it could be decided whether it would proceed.

Alex Bozman, prosecuting, told the bench: “Police do not agree discontinuement but have been unable to provide the supplementary evidence needed.”

Magistrates agreed his request to dismiss the case due to no evidence being offered.
