MORE than £1,900 was donated to the special care baby unit at Calderdale Royal Hospital from an insurance company.

Staff at Provident Insurance raised the cash through a football tournament and stars in their eyes event sponsored by Halifax-based company SSP.

Tanya Hirst, who was one of the fundraising co-ordinators, said: “Every year we pick an organisation or charity to raise money for.

“Some of our staff members had recently had babies admitted to the unit so we decided the money should go there.

“We had great fun throughout all the fundraising efforts.”

Tanya along with colleagues Daniel Keast and Lee Casalino visited the hospital and presented a cheque to staff.
