TWO people from Marsden were arrested after drugs and a large amount of cash were seized.

Heroin and crack cocaine were found after a police drugs squad raided addresses in the Huddersfield and Wakefield areas yesterday.

A 38-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman from Marsden were arrested.

Raids were carried out in Marsden and the Agbrigg area of Wakefield

Drugs found are thought to have a street value of more than £3,000.

The two arrested people remain in custody at Huddersfield police station today and are being questioned by officers.

Det Insp John Gilbody, of Kirklees District Drugs Team, said: "Apart from the drugs we also seized a substantial quantity of cash."

Officers from West Yorkshire Police's financial investigations unit are now assisting the team with this inquiry."

He added: "We have had a tremendous start to the New Year and continue to seriously disrupt local drugs markets.

"I would like to thank the community for their support as they are in essence our eyes and ears."
