BUDDING authors could win up to £300 by putting pen to paper in Calderdale Council’s new short story competition.
The contest is running at libraries around Calderdale until March 27.
Short stories must be 3,000 words or less and can be based on any topic.
The stories will be judged by Jane Rogers, who is author of seven novels plus radio and TV dramas.
She is currently Professor of Writing at Sheffield Hallam University.
Also judging will be Ra Page, founder and editor of Comma Press, an independent publishing company for short fiction.
The winner will get £300, with runners-up receiving £100 and £50 prizes.
The finalists will also get their stories read out at library events.
