THIEVES tried to blow their way into a cash machine at a Meltham supermarket. They used an oxyacetylene cylinder to try to force their way into the HSBC machine at Morrisons in Station Street around 5am yesterday. They made off in a silver car in the direction of Manchester after failing to gain cash. Police and fire officers attended the scene to make the area safe.
