AUDITIONS are being held in Huddersfield to find stars for a musical extravaganza.

Huddersfield Poperetta Productions are looking for would-be actors/singers for a part in Moses The Mighty Musical.

The show is directed by Geraldine Connor, from West Yorkshire Playhouse in Leeds.

She said: "The show will be a great boost for Huddersfield as it helps many to make their first step into the business."

The production company runs workshops in dance, singing and drama, said Philip Wootton, local musician and project manager.

"Experienced actors will work alongside novices to nurture any spark of talent for the show. It's about more then just the final performance, it runs training offering a way into the arts for young people who may not otherwise have that opportunity."

Auditions - open to everyone - will be held from 10am until 5pm on Saturday at the Methodist Mission on Lord Street.

The production is co-directed by Stephen Downs, based in the Media Centre, and project managed by Phil Wootton.

Organisers plan to stage their show in Huddersfield next year, at a venue to be decided.
