IT'S GOOD to be green, but bus driver Graham Shaw had no plans to fit a catalytic converter to his private Freelander 4x4.

What he did get though came as a total surprise when Graham discovered he had been driving around for months with a dead cat stuck to the vehicle’s exhaust manifold.

Graham, of Slaithwaite, said: “I had no idea the cat was under the car.

“I have no sense of smell and it was only discovered when I took the car in for a service.”

Graham, a regular at the Star pub on Manchester Road in Slaithwaite, has endured constant ribbing from his mates since the unfortunate moggy was found.

“You hear of cats going underneath cars and resting on the engine block when they go out at night, but I honestly had no idea it was there,” said Graham.

“The poor thing met an untimely death. It really did reach the end of the road.

“You could say it was a bit of a catastrophe and I will certainly paws for thought – and a look under the car – now before I get in it!”
