THIS is the dramatic moment a man made a citizen's arrest in Almondbury.

He detained a youth after an incident on Town End in the village which left a middle-aged man with facial injuries at 4.45pm yesterday.

The youth was held until police arrived.

Another member of the public followed a second youth who was joined by a third youth.

The man was talking to police on his mobile phone and they swooped nearby and detained both youths.

All the youths - two aged 19 from Thornton Lodge and Lockwood and an 18-year-old from Dalton - have all been released on police bail pending further inquiries.

Sgt Alan Rhees-Cooper, of Huddersfield police, said: "The three youths were all arrested on suspicion of robbery, but we are still investigating that allegation.

"A man was assaulted during the incident and suffered facial injuries which are not serious."
