LEADING animal charity PDSA is celebrating providing free pet care in Huddersfield for 61 years.

In the time since it opened its first practice in Trinity Street it has grown to carrying out 65,000 treatments a year, from life-saving operations to routine vaccinations. Senior Veterinary Surgeon, John Taylor, who has been with PDSA for 25 years said: “All of the work we do is made possible thanks not only to our staff but our fundraisers and supporters.

“With their help we have been able to continue treating pets that are most in need and we look forward to providing a service for many years to come.”

Now Huddersfield PDSA is based in Greenhead Road and spends £1.1million a year running its services.

To be eligible for free vet care at Huddersfield PDSA pet owners must live in HD1 to HD9 or HX4 to HX7 and receive Housing Benefit or Council Tax Benefit.
